"Collectors recognize this rare vintage as the most distinctive, thanks to its Sémillon with notes of beeswax and saffron!"

“Made from white and gray Sémillon grapes, the ‘Sadie Family 2024 Citrusdal Mountain Die Distriksreeks Kokerboom’ features a rich texture while retaining a striking freshness, offering notes of lanolin and beeswax with a honeyed depth at its multidimensional core. “Ripe rather than green,” as owner Eben Sadie proclaims, this wine displays the distinctive complexity and subtle saffron nuances that have made this rare Sémillon from old vines so coveted by discerning collectors. Grown on old vines rooted in quartzite sandstone in the remote Citrusdal Mountain region, this wine reflects the extreme character of the terroir and the historical decline of South Africa’s old Sémillon plantations. About the wine:

On the nose, this full-bodied, creamy white wine reveals aromas of sliced pears, beeswax, grapefruit, wild herbs, and juniper berries. It has plenty of body and complexity, with a waxy yet fresh texture. The finish is spicy and long. A captivating hint of ginger and tobacco emerges at the very end of the palate. A blend of Sémillon and Sémillon Gris. Enjoy now or cellar.
