“A nose of bread crust, very elegant and rather rare for this grape variety; a very dry style; the palate is rich and fresh, easy to drink with a subtle saline undertone; the crystalline finish offers a purity perfect for fine dining; this wine glides across the palate; the balance is superb for an entry-level wine.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide)

Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

The nose offers notes of bread crust—a very elegant and rather rare characteristic for this grape variety. It has a distinctly dry style; on the palate, it is rich and fresh, easy to drink with a subtle saline undertone. The crystal-clear finish offers a purity that pairs beautifully with food; this wine glides across the palate, and the balance is superb for an entry-level wine.

About the estate:

Céline and Isabelle Meyer manage the estate—long led by their father Jean—with courage and discipline. Their biodynamic wines shine with their light, refined, fresh, and crisp profiles. The estate’s two flagship grands crus are the Hengst and the Brand, where the Riesling truly shines. Pinot Gris is part of a long tradition of dry wine, which is, unfortunately, not so common in Alsace.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 89/100 (Very good wine)

About the wine:

The 2015 Fromenteau Pinot Gris opens with a ripe, spicy bouquet, with subtle notes of lactone and caramel, and ripe apples. On the palate, it is a very dry, spicy, and fresh Pinot with a lovely creamy texture and a beautiful aromatic finish. The 2015 was bottled with 13.5% alcohol and 2g of residual sugar. It is an excellent wine that will pair well with many dishes.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

The nose reveals aromas of fresh Russet pear skin, with pleasant hints of bitterness and juicy fruit. The palate is refined and dry, further highlighting the purity of the fruit. Although powerful and concentrated, the finish lingers with delicate notes of pear and a lemony freshness.
