"Created in memory of Jean Meyer, Un Certain Regard 2016 is a very elegant and refined Pinot Gris with a long, refined and saline finish. It has amazing finesse and salinity, with good structure and a long finish. Very iodized and refined, it was bottled with six grams of residual sugar." Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the wine:

This dry Pinot Gris (6g for 14°) has a lovely saline character, very pure, concentrated, with tight, fairly compact juice. Tasty, saline persistence.

About the domain :

With courage and discipline, Céline and Isabelle Meyer manage the estate long run by their father Jean. Biodynamic viticulture shines through in wines with airy, pure, fresh, chiselled mouthfeel. The estate's two favorite grands crus are Hengst and Brand, where Riesling shines particularly brightly. Pinot Gris is part of a long tradition of dry wines, unfortunately not so common in Alsace.

Wine rated ( 2019 guide) 16/20 + Favorite (Very good wine)

About the wine:

This cuvée is a fitting tribute to Céline and Isabelle Meyer's father, who passed away in 2016. A Pinot Gris fashioned in his image: "Straightforward but with scope. Dry but not rigid." That says it all!

Note and review by M. JEAN-MARC D. Published on 24/04/2021

The straightforwardness of the Josmeyer style is legendary, and patience is required. This Pinot Gris is still very tight. Its tension and salinity are remarkable. The fruit will express itself better with a few years in the cellar. A great wine.
