"Created in memory of Jean Meyer, Un Certain Regard 2016 is a very elegant and refined Pinot Gris with a long, refined and salty finish. It has surprising finesse and salinity, with good structure and a long finish. Very iodized and refined, it was bottled with six grams of residual sugar." Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)
About wine:
A beautiful saline register for this dry Pinot Gris (6g per 14°), very refined, concentrated, with a tight and fairly compact juice. Savory and saline persistence.
About the estate:
Céline and Isabelle Meyer run the estate, long managed by their father Jean, with courage and discipline. Biodynamics shines through in their wines, which are light and refined, fresh and chiseled. The estate's two iconic grands crus are Hengst and Brand, where Riesling shines particularly brightly. Pinot Gris is part of a long tradition of dry wines, which are unfortunately not so common in Alsace.

Wine rating (2019 guide) 16/20 + Favorite (Very good wine)
About wine:
This vintage is a beautiful tribute to the father of Céline and Isabelle Meyer, who passed away in 2016. A Pinot Gris crafted in his image: "Straightforward but with depth. Dry but not rigid." That says it all!

Note and opinion by Mr. JEAN-MARC D. Published on 04/24/2021
The integrity of the Josmeyer style is legendary, and patience is required. This Pinot Gris is still very tight. Its tension and salinity are remarkable. The fruitiness will express itself better with a few years of cellaring. A great wine.
