“Very spicy, with powerful floral aromas, a dry wine that finds its balance in its lovely minerality on the palate— a style all too rare in Alsace.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide). Les Folastries takes its name from a collection of poems by Pierre de Ronsard; this is a seductive and poetic Gewurztraminer!

Wine rated 89/100

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

Very spicy, with powerful floral aromas, this dry wine finds its balance in its lovely minerality on the palate—a style all too rare in Alsace.

About the estate:

Céline and Isabelle Meyer manage the estate—long led by their father Jean—with courage and discipline. Biodynamic winemaking shines through in their wines, which are light and refined on the palate, fresh and crisp. The estate’s two flagship grands crus are the Hengst and the Brand, where the Riesling truly shines. The Pinot Gris is part of a long tradition of dry wine, which is unfortunately not so common in Alsace.
