Robert Parker

“Aromas of candied lemon peel, cumin, shrimp shell reduction, and sea urchin roe capture the attention and define this 2010 Pinot Gris, which translates on the palate into an invigorating and mouthwatering character that is subtly creamy and juicy. It has a long finish, slightly warm with hints of toasted hazelnut reminiscent of a white Burgundy. These are just a few of the qualities of this delicious Pinot Gris from a vintage characterized by high acidity and intense extraction. It will be highly versatile and irresistible through at least 2022.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Food and Wine Pairings

This is the perfect pairing for foie gras terrine, lobster in sauce, and risottos with morels or porcini mushrooms. It’s the wine that complements kidneys in sauce, pan-seared livers, and pasta with soy sauce. It pairs well with dishes that have bold flavors, grains, and root vegetable purées. It pairs exceptionally well with Chinese (Cantonese) cuisine...

Wine rated (2013 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

Aromas of dried meat and smoke; pure and refined, with a lovely full body on the palate, rich and long, and a slightly toasty finish. The indulgent aromas are truly alluring.

About the estate:

Céline and Isabelle Meyer manage the estate—long led by their father Jean—with courage and discipline. The biodynamic approach shines through in their wines, which are light and refined on the palate, fresh and well-defined. The estate’s two flagship grands crus are the Hengst and the Brand, where the Riesling truly shines. The Pinot Gris is part of a long tradition of dry wines—a style that, unfortunately, is not all that common in Alsace.
