"A vintage from century-old vines, distinguished by its elegance. The nose evokes fresh and candied cherries; the palate is full-bodied, rich, and velvety, finishing with spicy tannins. The aging in wood (twelve months in barrels followed by three months in large oak casks) is barely noticeable, as the tannins remain supple. A well-rounded wine, ready to drink starting in 2013.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins)

About the wine:
Do not confuse La Bottière-Pavillon (Depardon family) with La Bottière des Perrachon, which presents here a cuvée made from century-old vines, renowned for its elegance. The nose evokes fresh and candied cherries; the palate is full-bodied, rich, and velvety, finishing with spicy tannins. The oak aging (twelve months in barrels followed by three months in large casks) is barely noticeable, as the tannins remain supple. A well-rounded wine, ready to drink starting in 2013.
About the estate:
Winegrowers in Juliénas since the early 17th century, the Perrachons purchased Château de la Bottière in 1877, followed by Domaine des Perelles in Romanèche-Thorins (a windmill). Upon settling there in 1989, Laurent Perrachon acquired Domaine des Mouilles, followed by plots in Morgon, Fleurie, and Saint-Amour: a total of 31 hectares, with vineyards across six crus. With Maxime and Adrien, the new generation joined the estate in 2016.

I tasted this Juliénas yesterday, straight from the bottle, paired with pike quenelles in Nantua sauce. While it wasn’t quite the perfect pairing, it was still very promising. Excellent right now, I think this wine will be at its peak in one to two years. A very good Juliénas and excellent value for the price!
