"The Les Charmes climate shares with Meursault the distinctive feature of being divided between Charmes du dessous and Charmes du dessus. Here, a Charmes "tout court" comes from a beautiful 1.15-hectare plot that offers a bouquet of ripe black fruits enhanced by a touch of pepper. The fruit is accompanied by a subtle woodiness on the palate, which is full-bodied and well-structured. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021) Grown on old vines planted in 1971, Santenay Charmes presents itself with lovely concentrated fruit, notes of morello cherry and blackcurrant, complemented by a hint of licorice. The overall impression is round and generous, offering immediate pleasure!

About wine:
Climate Les Charmes shares with Meursault the distinctive feature of being divided into Charmes du dessous and Charmes du dessus. Here, a Charmes "tout court" (simply Charmes) comes from a beautiful 1.15-hectare plot offering a bouquet of ripe black fruits enhanced by a touch of pepper. The fruit is accompanied by subtle oak notes in a full-bodied, well-structured palate.
About the estate:
An old estate, with records dating back to the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At its helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981, his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and is in charge of winemaking, and their new colleague Martin Boyer. No certified organic status here, but sustainable and controlled viticulture (total grass cover in the vineyard, no weedkillers), and wines of great consistency.

About wine:
A subtle hint of morello cherry promises freshness on the nose of this wine. The palate also presents this bright, tangy fruit on a slender, slightly crisp body with fresh honesty and verve.
