“A refined, spicy, and lingering Santenay 1er Cru that is a true success, according to Bourgogne Aujourd’hui magazine!”

“A rich, velvety, complex palate with soft notes of black fruit, a floral touch, and a hint of smokiness. The tannins are wonderfully soft, reflecting the maturity of the harvest. What a success!” (Bourgogne Aujourd'hui 2025)

About the estate:

An historic estate, first mentioned in the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new partner, Martin Boyer. No certified organic production here, but sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full vineyard cover cropping, no herbicides), and wines of great consistency.

Burghound

Burghound

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100

Rated: Recommended

About the wine:

Subtle oak aging is evident in the ripe, fruity aromas of Pinot Noir, earth, humus, and violets, with subtle spicy notes. The oak is also present on the palate, with a rich, flavorful, and moderately expressive mid-palate that builds to a youthful, austere, balanced, and firm finish. This wine can be enjoyed young, but a few years of aging will add depth. 2030+
