Roger Belland - Santenay-Beauregard 1er Cru 2009

Roger Belland - Santenay-Beauregard 1er Cru 2009

Rating: Gault Millau 15/20, Bettane & Desseauve 14.5/20
“This is a rustic wine, close to the earth. A powerful nose, with a slight hint of alcohol. A kirsch-like finish. The tannins are well-integrated, with a touch of roundness. A good table wine. ” ( The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2012 - Gault Millau). One of the best-located among the 1er Crus!

About the estate:

An historic estate, first mentioned in the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new partner, Martin Boyer. No certified organic production here, but sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full grass cover in the vineyard, no herbicides), and wines of great consistency.
