With a pale pink color and coppery highlights, Romanin rosé offers a complex and fresh bouquet, blending red berries and citrus notes. Explosive on the palate, it reveals an elegant, mineral character. It can be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or with light dishes.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2021 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Tucked away at the foot of the north face of the Alpilles, in a magical and spectacular setting worthy of a James Bond movie, this 58-hectare estate is now owned by the Charmolüe family, former owners of Château Montrose, a Saint-Estèphe Cru Classé. Cultivated in harmony with nature, the vineyard operates on a biodynamic schedule; the wines’ evolution is clearly discernible, and their purity is undeniable. Since 2018, a brand-new winery has complemented the spectacular historic facility, enabling the wines to continue their evolution.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Former owners of Château Montrose, a Saint-Estèphe classified growth, Anne-Marie and Jean-Louis Charmolüe acquired this vast estate (250 ha) with a rich history in 2006; it is located in the heart of the Alpilles Regional Nature Park in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. The vineyard covers 58 hectares and has been cultivated using biodynamic methods since 1988; the wines are aged in a monumental cellar, carved into the rock and designed to resemble a Gothic cathedral.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Estate rated 3 stars (Very high-quality production)

About the estate:

In the heart of the Alpilles, the estate—covering just under 60 hectares—is home to numerous red grape varieties (Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, etc.) and white varieties (Rolle, etc.), some native to the Mediterranean region and others not (Cabernet Sauvignon), all cultivated using biodynamic methods. The grapes are vinified in a rather unique setting: an underground cathedral. The estate, acquired in 2006 by Jean-Louis Charmolüe (Château Montrose, in Saint-Estèphe), benefits from the guidance of Bordeaux-based winemaker Denis Dubourdieu.
