Domaine Fontanel - Côtes du Roussillon Tautavel Prieuré 2017
3*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
“A deep, luminous garnet color in harmony with exquisite aromas of forest floor, moss, mushrooms, and licorice. On the palate, one is surprised by the richness of the flavors, the balance, and the smoothness of the texture—imbued with black fruit—which envelops a well-integrated tannic structure. The lingering finish is another major strength. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

About the wine:
A deep, luminous garnet color harmonizes with exquisite aromas of the forest floor, moss, mushrooms, and licorice. On the palate, one is struck by the richness of the flavors, the balance, and the smooth, velvety texture—imbued with black fruit—that envelops a well-integrated tannic structure. The lingering finish is another major asset.
About the estate:
The estate’s origins, spanning six generations, date back to 1864. The property boasts a 25-hectare vineyard spread across diverse terroirs. At the helm since 1989, Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil have been producing wines with strong character—both dry and naturally sweet—for nearly 30 years. In 2017, they sold the estate to a young couple of winemakers, Élodie and Matthieu Collet.
