"A deep, luminous garnet color in harmony with exquisite aromas of undergrowth, moss, mushrooms, and licorice. On the palate, one is surprised by the richness of flavors, the balance, and the smoothness of the black fruit-infused texture that envelops a mellow tannic structure. The lingering finish is another major asset. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

About wine:

A deep, luminous garnet color harmonizes with exquisite aromas of undergrowth, moss, mushrooms, and licorice. On the palate, one is surprised by the richness of flavors, the balance, and the smoothness of the black fruit-infused texture that envelops a mellow tannic structure. The lingering finish is another major asset.

About the estate:

The origins of the estate, which has been passed down through six generations, date back to 1864. The property boasts a 25-hectare vineyard planted on a variety of terroirs. At the helm since 1989, Pierre and Marie-Claude Fontaneil have been producing wines with strong personalities for nearly 30 years, including both dry wines and naturally sweet wines. In 2017, they sold the estate to a young couple of winemakers, Élodie and Matthieu Collet.

An extraordinary nose of plum, cherry, wild berries, and leather. The attack is quite lively and the alcohol is a little too noticeable, but the tannins are well structured and the aromatic power is still of high quality. I think a few years in the bottle will soften it and make it an exceptional wine.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 01/27/2023

A cuvée with a strong personality and a vigorous, lively character, built on a solid, deep structure expressing mellow tannins and a beautiful concentration of black fruits, spices, and toasted oak. The finish is equally intense and tannic, with an added hint of bitterness. Undoubtedly a fine wine, but one that, in my opinion, lacks a little subtlety and finesse, and whose price seems somewhat ambitious. Suitable for long aging. After two hours of decanting, this powerful and mature wine was well suited to the spicy flavors of paprika in beef Stroganoff and basmati rice. Rating = 3.8.

A very fine wine, with well-integrated oak, aromas of undergrowth, garrigue, and black fruits. Would have deserved 4.5/5 but that's impossible...
