"Sadie offers us a 100% Chenin cuvée made from 80-year-old vines grown at the foot of the stunning Citrusdal mountains!"
“Aromas of papaya, stone, apricot, chopped apple, hazelnut, and a hint of rosemary. It’s dense and creamy, with a full body but plenty of stony minerality, as well as good texture and tannic grip. Salty and intense on the finish. Chenin Blanc grown on eroded limestone soil with high iron content. Ready to drink or for aging. ” (James Suckling 2025)

About the wine:
The Sadie Family 2024 Citrusdal Mountain Die Distriksreeks Skurfberg is a Chenin Blanc with beautiful linearity, characterized by crystalline salinity, mineral precision, and the freshness typical of high altitudes. Notes of citrus zest and damp stone come through on a concentrated, well-structured palate that highlights the wine’s purity. “We don’t want to add anything to our wines, but we don’t want to take anything away either,” explains owner Eben Sadie. Made from 65-year-old vines planted on iron- and quartz-rich sandstone soils on the heights of the Skurfberg Plateau, this wine captures the tension and clarity associated with altitude that define the terroir. It is one of the most intriguing wines in this excellent lineup. 2026–2040

About the wine:
The Skurfberg 2024 comes from the drier northern regions of Cape Town and is the first of Sadie’s Chenin Blancs to be harvested. It offers a charming bouquet with aromas of beeswax, sea spray, and light white linen, along with a hint of seaweed. On the palate, it is well-balanced, with a soft, very linear, and very structured mouthfeel—a wine that doesn’t do things by halves. Serious and austere, yet its savory character invites you to take another sip. 2026–2046
