The village of Auxey-Duresses is nestled in a small valley between Meursault and Monthélie. Its vineyards are divided into three small clusters, the most prestigious of which produces south-facing red Premiers Crus, such as Duresses, the appellation’s most renowned parcel. A lesser-known red wine meant for aging, offering beautiful structure and character.

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune wine merchant founded in 1731 owns more than 142 plots across 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand crus and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.
