“A delightful 1er Cru, full of suppleness and harmony”

"The 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru has a concise nose; the 50% whole clusters are neatly integrated into the red fruit, with hints of iodine that develop over time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very harmonious and velvety, with skillfully integrated oak leading to a surprisingly concentrated finish tinged with blueberry. One of Bouchard Père’s pleasant surprises in this vintage.” (Vinous 2023)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune-based wine merchant, founded in 1731, owns more than 142 plots spanning 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand reds and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.

About the wine:

Aromas of red berries, rose petals, orange peel, and cinnamon open the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles, a medium- to full-bodied wine that is full-flavored and rich, smooth and sensual, underpinned by lively acidity and finishing with a mineral note.
