According to James Suckling, this wine is the perfect example of how Burgundy's greatness expresses itself with greater subtlety—a truly great wine!
Consumers often expect a great Burgundy to be a spectacular, flashy wine. This wine is a perfect example of how Burgundian greatness is often expressed more subtly. The harmony between red fruits and fine tannins, as well as the excellent concentration and very silky tannins on the medium-bodied palate make this a truly exceptional wine for the appellation. Delicious today, it needs time to reveal its delicately spicy mystery. From a 3.9-hectare plot located in the middle of the Grèves Premier Cru hillside, where there is never any water stress. Grapes from organic farming. Drink now or keep. (James Suckling 2024) • Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Rated estate (2023 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this large Beaune-based wine merchant founded in 1731 owns more than 142 plots covering 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of premier and grand cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage enables Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker who was previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce around 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with most of the production coming from purchased grapes for the great reds and carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success in both white and red wines in recent vintages.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 97/100 (Best Bottle)
About wine:
It may be a bit simplistic, but that's how it is in Burgundy: many estates and houses are embodied in a wine, and so we talk about "the Enfant Jésus of the Bouchard Père et Fils house." This 3.92-hectare plot surrounding a beautiful cabotte produces magical wines with excellent aging potential. This 2022 vintage is no exception to the rule, with its intense color and rich, complex, elegant aromas of raspberries, spice box, flowers, and more. The wine is voluptuous, rich, and sensual, with "sweet, refined" tannins, fleshy fruitiness, great length, and class.

About wine:
The Beaune Premier Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus 2022 is charming, with aromas of blackberry, spices, violet, and rose petals wafting from the glass. Medium-bodied, broad and enveloping, with a fleshy attack that evolves into a refined, mineral palate and a salty finish, it is a benchmark for the appellation.

About wine:
Beaune Les Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jésus 1er Cru 2022 has a clean, fresh nose of maraschino cherry, candied orange peel, and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied, with grainy tannins and a slightly powdery texture. The appealing finish, tinged with mocha, lingers on the palate. This wine will drink very well after 5 to 7 years. 2026-2046
