“A Bouchard Beaune 1er Cru at its peak, a model of finesse and flavor...”
“Medium purple color. A fairly flavorful, spicy nose, almost full-bodied, yet perfectly clean. Elegant, without excessive oak, revealing succulent red fruit. A dense, velvety wine with structuring tannins, yet always refined. Flavorful, firm, and long. A fine, very flavorful texture. [...] 2024–2032” (Jancis Robinson 2022)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune-based wine merchant, founded in 1731, owns more than 142 plots spanning 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand reds and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
A 4.36-hectare plot of deep limestone-clay soil owned by Bouchard, half of which faces south and the other half north. The 2018 vintage differed from that of 2019, with a very wet winter followed by a hot summer, which led to rapid growth and the need for rigorous green harvesting. Gentle punching down for slow, delicate extraction. Darker color in the glass, with ripe fruit evident on the nose and palate. Soft, easy, and generous texture, with very fine tannins and lower acidity than in 2019. 2022–2027

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
A rustic, gamey nose emerges, with a briny austerity that overlays aromas of red berries and roses. The tannins, soft at first, become more rugged over time. Given its power, bottle aging through 2028 will soften its austere character and promote better integration.
