Roger Belland - Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos Pitois Monopole rouge 2023
91/100
Burghound
"The authenticity of Burgundy Pinot: elegant fruit, a creamy texture, and spicy complexity—what harmony!"
“The distinctly peppery nose features notes of Pinot Rouge and Pinot Noir, along with a strong earthy influence that is also evident in the rich yet bold, medium-bodied flavors, which manage to maintain a good level of detail in the lingering and more complex finish. This wine is well worth savoring.” (Burghound 2024)

About the estate:
A historic estate, first documented in the 18th century, that today spans 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined the business in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new colleague, Martin Boyer. While not certified organic, the estate practices sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full grass cover in the vineyard, no herbicides) and produces wines of great consistency.
