Roger Belland - Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos Pitois Monopole rouge 2023
91/100
Burghound
“The authenticity of Burgundy Pinot Noir—elegant fruit, a creamy texture, and spicy complexity: what harmony!”
“The distinctly peppery nose features notes of Pinot Rouge and Pinot Noir, along with a strong earthy influence that is also evident in the rich yet bold, medium-bodied flavors, which manage to retain a good level of detail in the lingering and more complex finish. This wine is well worth savoring.” (Burghound 2024)

About the estate:
A historic estate, first mentioned in the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new partner, Martin Boyer. No certified organic production here, but sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full grass cover in the vineyard, no herbicides), and wines of great consistency.
