"This Burgundy grand cru will elevate any table lucky enough to serve it—simply unforgettable!"

“An impressive wine. Bouchard owns two plots of nearly identical size: one near the top of the hillside in Plante l’Abbé, planted in 1956, and the other in Baudes Basses. [...] The result is surprisingly mineral and fresh, with a savory note that complements the ripe black fruit. It is slightly less powerful than the 2018, but it offers captivating intensity, firm tannins, a dense structure, and a finish of impressive length. 2024–2039” (Decanter 2021)

Wine rated (2019 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the wine:

This vintage showcases the upper vineyard, offering a refined and complex wine that perfectly embodies the character of the upper part of the vineyard. Its texture is reminiscent of a Grand Echezeaux, though in this vintage, the best Côte de Beaune wines possess greater charm and comparable aging potential.

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune-based wine merchant, founded in 1731, owns more than 142 plots spanning 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand reds and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

An impressive wine. Bouchard owns two plots of nearly identical size: one near the top of the hillside in Plante l'Abbé, planted in 1956, and the other in Baudes Basses. However, they did not include grapes from the latter vines, located at the foot of the hillside, as they were recently replanted. This vintage therefore comes from mature vines located at the highest point of the hillside. The 2017 harvest began on September 13. 30% of the grapes were fermented as whole clusters, and the wine was aged in 30% new barrels. The result is surprisingly mineral and fresh, with a savory note that complements the ripe black fruit. It is slightly less powerful than the 2018, but it offers captivating intensity, firm tannins, a dense structure, and a finish of impressive length. 2024–2039

About the wine:

Notes of cranberry and beetroot, a velvety tannic texture, and a hint of bitterness on the finish. Powerful and aromatic, with a style that’s still a bit rough around the edges for now.

About the wine:

This wine offers velvety aromas of violets, flowers, and blueberries, which carry through on the palate with a lovely fullness of ripe, rounded tannins. The finish is long and velvety. It displays impressive power and maturity. Best enjoyed starting in 2022.
