“An iconic appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise”

The Côte Chalonnaise features soil and a climate similar to those of the Côte-d'Or, of which it is a geological extension, though the contours of its hillsides are characterized by a different degree of regularity and continuity. Among these, one iconic appellation stands out: Mercurey, which produces aromatic, delicious wines that are highly approachable.

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune wine merchant founded in 1731 owns more than 142 plots across 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the reds and carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.
