Rating: Bettane & Desseauve 16/20, RVF 16/20
The distinctive feature of the Santenots appellation, located exclusively within the commune of Meursault, is that it produces Meursault wines when planted with Chardonnay, and Volnay wines when planted with Pinot Noir. In 2007: “Beautiful color, expressive nose, delightful suppleness, remarkably fine tannins, much more distinctive than in the past—a very lovely Pinot!” (Le Grand Guide des vins de France 2010 - Bettane & Desseauve)

About the estate:
An historic estate, first mentioned in the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new partner, Martin Boyer. No certified organic production here, but sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full grass cover in the vineyard, no herbicides), and wines of great consistency.
