The Volnay and Volnay Premier Cru vineyards, located between Pommard to the north and Meursault to the south, face east/south and are planted at an altitude of between 230 and 280 meters. They are backed by the small Chaignot mountain. The vines grow on white Argovian limestone soils at the top of the hillside, which become enriched with reddish ferruginous components and schistose banks as you descend.

The Volnay wines and Volnay Premier Cru are exclusively red wines made from Pinot Noir, Burgundy's flagship grape variety. They are distinguished by their finesse, their sap-like and velvety character, which gives them a very feminine side. The wines offered by the Domaine Roger Belland, Domaine Leroy, Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils, or Domaine Faiveley perfectly reflect these characteristics.

The climate and soil types allow producers to Volnay to obtain wines of great diversity.
