Volnay

The vineyards of Volnay and Volnay Premier Cru, located between Pommard to the north and Meursault to the south on an east/south orientation, are planted at an altitude of between 230 and 280 meters. It backs onto the small mountain of Chaignot. The vines are planted on white argillaceous limestone soils at the top of the slope, enriched with reddish ferruginous components and schist beds as you descend. 

Visit Volnay wines and Volnay Premier Cru are exclusively red wines made from Pinot Noir, Burgundy's flagship red grape variety. They are distinguished by their finesse, sapidity and velvety texture, giving them a very feminine touch. Volnay, a wine of international renown

L'Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Volnay is one of 84 AOCs in Burgundy's vineyards, and was instituted in 1937. What makes Volnay so special is that it is produced exclusively in red. No rosé or white wines are produced.Volnay appellation with the exception of the Volnay Santenots appellation, which produces a white wine from the chardonnay grape. Volnay wines have been renowned for decades, and continue to surprise with the subtlety and diversity of their aromas.

The diversity of the terroir allows certain climates to nuance this definition and produce wines of incredible aromatic richness.
