Reuilly
Adjacent to the Quincy appellation, located in Central LoireReuilly covers a small area of about 180 hectares on the hillsides bordering the banks of the Arnon, a tributary of the Cher. The wines are fruity, light, and delightful. For the whites, there is Sauvignon, with a dry and fruity profile; for the rosés, Pinot Gris, with a delicate profile; and for the reds, Pinot Noir, with a fruity and charming profile.

Although they share common characteristics, Reuilly wines vary depending on the winemaker’s style.

Discover the Reuilly appellation

Located in Berry, the vineyards of the Reuilly appellation span the departments of Indre and Cher. They are part of the Centre-Val de Loire wine region. Recognized as an AOC since 1937 for white wine and 1961 for red and rosé, the vineyards of Reuilly have existed since ancient times, but their reputation truly began during the reign of King Dagobert.
The vineyard, situated on sunny hillsides, overlooks the Arnon and Théols rivers. Its location on high terraces and moderate slopes gives it a sandy-gravelly, clay-limestone soil composition. Sauvignon, the primary grape variety, produces a dry, fruity white wine, while the red wines are made from Pinot Noir and the rosés are made from Pinot Gris alone or a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.

The Whites

White Reuilly is emblematic of Loire Valley wines. Made from the Sauvignon grape variety, it is known for its flavor profile and fairly pronounced acidity. Fruity, light, and dry, it can be cellared for 1 to 4 years from the vintage year. For best enjoyment, it should be served at a temperature between 10 and 12 degrees. Lovers of crisp wines will appreciate its floral and herbal notes, accented by minerality.

The Reds

These red wines, distinguished by their ruby hue and fruity aromas, are supple, silky, and light-bodied, and can be cellared for about two years. They are best served at a temperature between 13 and 16 degrees. Some, aged in oak barrels, have a more pronounced character and can be cellared for about five years.

Rosé wines

Reuilly rosé wine, made from Pinot Gris, has a pale pink color. Its fruity notes of white peach and apricot captivate the palate from the very first sip. It is best served at 10 to 12 degrees Celsius and ages very well for up to five years.

Discover the pairings for Reuilly

White wine pairs well with cold appetizers, shellfish, fish, and white meats. But its ideal pairing is with goat cheese, particularly the famous Crottin de Chavignol, which is produced exclusively in the Reuilly region.

Red wines, with their full-bodied character, pair well with saucy dishes and roasted poultry. But they also go well with grilled meats and sauerkraut.
It is the rosés that stand out. Pairing them with exotic cuisine and spicy dishes yields surprising combinations. When young, Reuilly rosés are excellent as an aperitif. Given a few years to age, they become remarkable wines for dessert.
