Jean-Luc Colombo

Jean-Luc Colombo is a demanding, energetic, and creative winemaker, a leading figure in the Rhône Valley. In 1984, Jean-Luc Colombo founded a consulting firm specializing in viticulture and oenology, and in 1986, he and his wife Anne acquired their first vineyards in Cornas. At the time , the estate comprised 1.5 hectares in the Cornas appellation; today it spans 6 hectares, planted with Syrah on weathered granite, on terraces and steep slopes, some with gradients exceeding 35%!

Jean-Luc Colombo practices viticulture that respects nature’s cycles, strictly avoiding the use of chemicals. The old vines yield very low harvests (less than 20 hl/ha), while the younger vines are subject to strict controls, from pruning to green harvesting. The success of their first vintage in 1987 led the Colombos to establish the company“Vins Jean-Luc Colombo”in 1994. The estate’s finest wines are now served at the tables of the world’s greatest chefs, from Alain Ducasse to Paul Bocuse and Georges Blanc. A well-deserved success given the exceptional quality of their wines.
