About the wine:
Straightforward, overripe pear, complex, exotic fruit, papaya, lovely freshness, dynamic length, lovely finesse, a hint of lime, a lovely overripe pear finish, a hint of salted butter caramel.
About the estate:
The Plageoles family has left its mark on the recent history of wine in Gaillac. Robert, followed by Bernard and Myriam—who brilliantly carried on his legacy—were pioneers in championing local grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques. The next generation is gradually taking the reins through Bernard’s sons, Florent and Romain, who are wholeheartedly dedicated to the twelve varieties in their vineyard, including the delicious Prunelart, the extremely rare Verdanel, and the quartet of Mauzac (green, red, pink, and black). Unconcerned with trends and off the beaten path, the estate continues to produce, with the utmost care, exclusively single-varietal wines endowed with strong personalities. This work of the mind, heart, and hands is fully reflected in a range of wines that strive for purity, integrity, and originality.

One of my first discoveries at Plageoles. I hadn't tasted it in a very long time, and "1 Day, 1 Wine" featured it. I was delighted to rediscover, in this vintage, all the originality of this cuvée.
