Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

The 2019 Duras—deeper, darker, yet also more angular—is just as sincere, but still comes across as a bit abrupt.

About the estate:

The Plageoles family has left an indelible mark on the recent history of wine in Gaillac. Robert, followed by Bernard and Myriam—who brilliantly carried on the family tradition—were pioneers in championing local grape varieties and traditional winemaking techniques. The next generation is gradually taking over, led by Bernard’s sons, Florent and Romain, who devote themselves body and soul to the twelve varieties in their vineyard, including the delicious Prunelart, the extremely rare Verdanel, and the quartet of Mauzac (green, red, pink, and black). Unconcerned with trends and off the beaten path, the estate continues to produce, with the utmost care, exclusively single-varietal wines endowed with strong personalities. This work of the mind, heart, and hands is fully reflected in a range of cuvées that aim for purity, integrity, and originality.
