Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru is a wine of profound intensity, characterized by notes of jammy red and black fruits and licorice. Rich and powerful, with a full body, ripe, elegant tannins, and a long, smooth finish. Undoubtedly a great wine!

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune-based wine merchant, founded in 1731, owns more than 142 plots across 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand crus and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.

Review by Mr. PIERRE M. Posted on April 10, 2013

Tasted in 2012 A structured, powerful, seductive, and spicy wine with fruit that is still pronounced. The character of the 2009 vintage makes it "easy to drink" even when young. Added to this is Bouchard’s signature style: a genuine respect for the fruit and the terroir, precision and finesse, combined with that “easy-drinking” and accessible quality found in all their wines, even in their youth. Summary: a truly beautiful wine, both enjoyable in its youth and possessing all the qualities to remain appealing for many years to come.
