Bouchard Père & Fils owns 3.94 hectares of this Savigny Premier Cru, acquired in the early 20th century. This cuvée takes its name from the rocky subsoil, which is rich in large flat stones known as "laves." A vintage marked by notes of jammy black fruit enhanced by subtle hints of oak. Fresh, fragrant, and delicate on the palate, with beautiful, present yet rounded tannins.

Rated estate (2023 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune-based wine merchant, founded in 1731, owns more than 142 plots across 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage allows Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with the majority of production coming from purchased grapes for the grand crus and from carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.

Bottle tasted in 2014 during a special Burgundy red wine tasting event; red fruit notes and a tight palate
