Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence

The Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence AOC covers nearly 3,500 hectares of vineyards, with the appellation area located in the western part of the limestone region of Provence. The Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence appellation covers a territory stretching from the Durance River to the Mediterranean Sea, and from the Rhône Valley in the west to Montagne Sainte-Victoire in the east.

The Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence wine appellation benefits from a Mediterranean-type climate, characterized by the Mistral, a prevailing cold and dry north wind. It enjoys an average annual sunshine duration of 2,900 hours, and the light rainfall is mainly concentrated in the spring and fall.

By decree of December 24, 1985, the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) finally recognized the winemakers’ commitment to quality and perseverance. Contributing to the renown of this region of Provence, in the heart of which they are rooted, the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence wines are now appreciated by wine lovers around the world, thanks in particular to the quality of the wines produced by estates such as Château Revelette, Château Vignelaure, and Château Calissanne.
