You might want to start your journey with the wines of Bordeaux. The climate and soil conditions unique to this region have given rise to many renowned wines: Saint-Émilion, Sauternes, Pomerol, and Saint-Estèphe. Their fame extends far beyond our borders.
And why not stop off in Touraine next to discover the wines of the Loire? This vast region, with its diverse soils, offers a palette of flavors and aromas that appeal to discerning palates. A virtually unique grape variety is the source of such renowned wines as Coteaux du Layon, Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre, and white Saumur...
Move seamlessly from sweet wines to dessert wines, and pay tribute to the Loire Valley, which ranks first in France for white wine production. Are your senses still piqued?
Let’s head to the Burgundy region! There, you’ll have the chance to explore a paradise for lovers of prestigious wines. Burgundy wines, whose history dates back to Roman times, have developed their unique character through the diversity of their terroirs and the cultivation of very specific grape varieties. White wine lovers will be drawn to Chablis, while red wine enthusiasts will prefer to savor the simplicity and elegance of the Côte de Beaune. It’s the perfect way to enhance the culinary adventures this exceptional region has to offer.
Not far from there, our buyers have also selected some Rhône wines for you. This region is characterized by the diversity of its grape varieties, with a mix of renowned estates and traditional winemakers. The vineyards on each bank have their own distinct character. It’s up to you to decide whether you prefer the left or the right bank. You’re surely familiar with such iconic wines as Côte-Rôtie, Gigondas, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. But there are many other treasures to discover in this valley.
Although less well-known, Savoie wine manages to hold its own and is gaining in popularity. It is highly appreciated when paired with cheese or smoked meats. Culturally, it remains the perfect companion for your raclettes, tartiflettes, and other hearty winter meals. Crépy, Roussette de Savoie, and Seyssel possess distinctive characteristics directly derived from the combination of mountain humidity and abundant sunshine. The altitude of the Jura Mountains also gives its wines a unique character, one shaped by dramatic climatic variations. Jura wine—whether red, rosé, white, or sparkling—is well worth discovering for wine lovers. Arbois, Château-Chalon, and the Côtes du Jura offer the palate a lovely fruity base or nutty notes, depending on which one you choose.
The Grand-Est region is also characterized by significant seasonal climate variations. Alsace wine is predominantly white, made from a variety of renowned grape varieties such as Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Sylvaner. Renowned estates such as Weinbach, Ostertag, and Josmeyer have quickly established themselves among the finest restaurants and in the best wine cellars.
Once you’ve finished exploring the Rhine region, head diagonally across to revisit Toulouse and the beautiful countryside surrounding it. Wines from the Southwest, long overshadowed by those of Bordeaux, are unique in that they are made from old, indigenous grape varieties. You’re sure to be familiar with appellations such as Madiran, Pécharmant, and Cahors. These are powerful wines that leave a lasting impression on both the palate and the nose.
If you love the sun, we suggest a quick detour a little further east to sample Languedoc wines. This consistent category offers a rich array of fruit and spicy flavors, sometimes even featuring hints of mint. Pic Saint-Loup, Faugères, and Corbières have already won over a large following in France and around the world.
Not far away, the Mediterranean climate has contributed to the creation of wines with a distinct character in the Roussillon region. Roussillon wine, whether white or red, derives its unique character from its incomparable geological heritage. You’re surely familiar with—or will soon become familiar with—appellations such as Rivesaltes, Banyuls, Collioure, and Maury. The song of the cicadas has also accompanied the wine of Provence as it matured. Whether red or rosé, the Mediterranean climate works its magic on the grape varieties, whether Syrah, Grenache, or Mouvèdre.
Although less well-known, white wines have a distinctive flavor that comes naturally from their Italian grape varieties. For many people, Bandol, Bellet, and Côtes de Provence have been wonderful discoveries during their summer vacations. When it comes to terroir and wines with character, the journey can only end on the Isle of Beauty. Corsican wine, whose best-known 100% authentic appellations are Ajaccio, Figari, and IGP Île de Beauté, is made from local grape varieties. The wonderful variety of wines available on this incomparable island will allow you to enjoy a wide range of food and wine pairings.
