Château de Meursault

The history of Château de Meursault dates back to the 11th century. In the early 19th century, the estate was expanded, largely under the leadership of the Serre family, who made significant architectural changes and greatly expanded the vineyard. Since 2012, Château de Meursault has been owned by the Halley family, who aim to continue and expand the château’s reputation in France and internationally.

Château de Meursault owns 60 hectares of vineyards, all located in the Côte de Beaune, in the communes of Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-lès-Beaune, Beaune, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. The vineyards, cultivated using sustainable and organic methods, are ideally situated and sheltered from the winds by the mountains to the west. The soils are rich in limestone over well-drained subsoils, which gives the terroir its full richness. Thanks to a very unique layout (vineyards arranged in patches), the estate’s 18 winegrowers work the same plots throughout the year, right up to the harvest, which is carried out exclusively by hand.

Built in 1980, the current winery features state-of-the-art equipment based on a gravity-fed system that eliminates unnecessary and harmful pumping.

Château de Meursault is today considered one of the most beautiful wine estates in Burgundy.
