Olivier and Patrick Leflaive had long wished to expand their property, so when the opportunity came up to take over the family estate, Domaine Leflaive, it seemed like the natural evolution of their work. Olivier Leflaive
took over the reins along with his uncle Vincent and then, from 1982 to 1994, with his cousin Anne-Claude. His primary goal was to share his vision of their prestigious appellations.
Olivier Leflaive Frères has vineyards in some of the most renowned terroirs: Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Les Folatières, and Les Pucelles in Puligny-Montrachet; and Blagny Sous le Dos d'Ane in Meursault—great names that evoke great moments. Ancestral property of Domaine Leflaive, the vineyards have been worked biodynamically for almost twenty years now, beginning long before that approach became mainstream.
Olivier Leflaive's philosophy is quite simply to produce great wines, which means starting with great fruit. Olivier, Franck, and their team have friendly relationships with the best growers in the region, figures who take the utmost care in tending their vines. But while the quality of the crop is of paramount importance, the vinification and élevage also play a role in revealing the essence of each appellation. Franck Grux and Philippe Grillet work tirelessly to ensure that the wines fully express themselves and their terroirs, and to that end each cuvée receives customized attention.
