Château La Nerthe
is a very highly regarded estate that was acquired by the Richard family in 1985 and is now run by Alain Dugas. The property was born along with the establishment of a wine culture here, in the 17th century when the papacy was in France and Châteauneuf-du-Pape was the papal summer residence.
Located in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château La Nerthe enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate with an exceptional 200 days of sun each year. This heat favors early ripening and therefore allows for a quick harvest. The vineyards flourish on terraces perched above the Rhône River, on clay and sandy clay soils covered with Châteauneuf's famous galets roulés—smooth, rounded stones. For many years the property has been worked with the utmost respect for the environment.
Château La Nerthe has earned great prestige and the respect of the most talented sommeliers and chefs; it regularly receives awards; and the most prominent experts write mouthwatering reviews of the wines.
