is located in the southwest of France, facing the Pyrenees, near the towns of Pau and Tarbes. It is part of the Alain Brumont vineyards, along with Château Bouscassé. Together, the vineyards of these two properties, Montus and Bouscassé, cover 180 hectares in the Madiran AOC, Pacherenc Vic Bihl AOC and the Vin de Pays des Côtes de Gascogne areas.
Alain Brumont, at the helm of Château Montus and Château Bouscassé, has wrought many changes and has managed to achieve what nobody had done before him: select the best parcels for each variety, replant with the best grafts, double the number of vines per hectare to increase the potential, reduce the yields and tailor the fermentation to each grape variety. He was also the first producer in the appellation to age his wine in new barrels.
Because of their concept and unique style, the wines of Château Montus, and the Brumont name in general, are today considered to be an original and rising brand with a promising future. With wines improving year-on-year, Alain Brumont is no longer simply content to remain in the "club" of the 100 best wine producers, but is aiming to compete among the 20 or 30 best wine producers in the world.
