« Un parfum qui évoque la croûte de pain. En bouche, il impose la force tellurique de son terroir avec sérénité. Son fruit reste précis malgré un élevage sous bois présent mais bien intégré. » ( Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2019 - RVF)

Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France

Wine rated : 18/20 (Vin de référence)
Vineyard rated (guide 2019) : 4****Stars (The producers of very high-quality wines, those who are the glory of the French vineyard)

About this wine : Ample et intense, grand vin.

About the vineyard : Under the strict direction of Pierre-Henry Gagey, this winery, belonging to a rich American family, became the most important of Beaune. The wines, now made by the serious and competent Frédéric Barnier who succeeded the flamboyant Jacques Lardière, impress for several years with their impressive regularity: the strength of the House is in the security it provides to the consumer to find, in any name and in all price ranges, a balanced, tasty and very representative of the best of his own wine. The reds may lack immediate charm but are developed for age in wondrous ways. Best white have few equivalents for their complexity, their wine and their nobility of flavor, retaining better than everywhere else the vitality of the grape of origin.

About the vineyard : This prestigious winery has a range of the most extensive and beautiful collection of terroirs, spread over 150 ha and distributed on five continents, in more than sixty countries. Jacques Lardière, the winemaker at home from 2009, passed the witness to Frédéric Barnier smoothly. 2012 will be his first vintage. Pierre-Henri Gagey, its CEO, continues the acquisition of Burgundy Vineyards and even installed at Givry, in Côte chalonnaise, a winemaking site dedicated to burgundies.

Corton-Charlemagne is a grand cru appellation in the Côte de Beaune (part of the Côte-d'Or). The appellation was established in 1937, and on wine labels its name may be followed by that of the climat (vineyard site) where the wine was grown (for example: Le Charlemagne, En Charlemagne, Pougets, Corton et Languettes). The appellation straddles the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix- ...
