Château de Villeneuve
is located on the plateau overlooking the Loire, offering stunning views of the “wild river”. Château de Villeneuve is a magnificent 18th-century mansion, built of the stone responsible for the nobility of the region’s very special terroir, the Tufa. The 25 hectares surrounding the property, owned by the Chevallier family, yield complex wines endowed with a big personality, in the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations.
The Château de Villeneuve vineyards are sustainably grown, with grass cover between the rows and Kentucky bluegrass used to optimize rooting and the water supply to the vine.
Château de Villeneuve’s AOC Saumur and AOC Saumur-Champigny wines are vinified in a winery dug into the Tufa rock and which is always at a constant temperature (12°C). The ageing of the Saumur Champigny and Saumur White is carried out in 400 to 500-litre barrels, referred to as “tonnes” in the region. Château de Villeneuve’s wines have been a favourite with Loire Valley wine lovers since the 15th century.
