Odile and Alain Jaume
continued in the family tradition when they created Domaine Grand Veneur
in 1979. The domaine originally extended over 9 hectares, but has expanded over time and today covers 78 hectares of vineyards located in the finest of the southern Rhône Valley appellations: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac and the Cotes du-Rhône.
In 2003, they acquired the vineyards of Clos Sixtus in the neighboring appellation of Lirac, one of this region’s fifteen AOCs and located a few kilometres from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Its terroir is certainly one of the finest in the Rhône with plateaux very similar to those on which the domaine already owns vineyards. Millions of years ago the river created the subsoil of the left and right banks by depositing sandy-clay and the famous large stones.
The family too has grown over the years. Today Sébastien and Christophe are ensuring the estate’s continued prosperity. They are putting their winemaking and wine growing knowledge, combined with the family’s traditional know-how, to excellent use bringing out the quality of the terroirs of Domaine Grand Veneur.
