is a family-owned property which, for the last 150 years, has seen six generations work hard to improve the products from a beautiful terroir. Located on the highest slopes of Gascony, at 180 metres altitude, Domaine Chiroulet
is named after the wind that is said to whistle "Chiroula" in local dialect. Today, it is run by Michel Fezas and his son, Philippe.
Domaine Chiroulet has 40 hectares of vineyards on a rugged and generous terrain: a clay-limestone bedrock with some plots predominantly composed of fine clay, similar to that of the Saint-Emilion hill. This is the preferred terrain of the Merlot, which provides 50-60% of the base for the Domaine Chiroulet red. It gives the wines a red fruit fleshiness and an intense bouquet. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Tannat bring finesse, freshness and structure. The marriage of these grape varieties is created by an early blending, which takes place in November, and ageing in oak barrels for about 12 months.
